Case Study

20 reservations in 14 days for a product that wasn't made yet

Kristin Hardy, founder of Emergency Ready LLC, had a product idea: GRAB-BAG, a 3-day emergency kit small enough for a glovebox. Before paying for production, she wanted to know if strangers would raise their hand for it.

The question

Would people who had never heard of GRAB-BAG reserve one at an expected price of $36.99? Before launch, Kristin set her own bar: 11 to 24 reservations would count as a strong signal.

What we built

  • A reservation page at reserve.getgrabbag.com, live in days, with a free reservation (no payment collected) and clear “preparing for production” disclosures.
  • Two Meta ads, a 30-second video with voiceover and a static image, both approved by Kristin before launch.
  • Source tracking on every reservation, so each one could be tied to the ads.
  • A $150 ad budget, paid by Kristin directly to Meta.

Reservations grew over the sprint, from 8 in week one to 12 in week two.

The verdict: strong signal

Strong signal

20 reservations landed inside Kristin's own “strong signal” range. Every reservation came from a stranger who saw an ad, read that nothing would be charged or shipped, and still left their name and email.

What happened next

At the end of the sprint, Kristin received a Validation Scorecard, her full reservation list, the page files and all ad creative. She now has real demand data from real buyers to guide her next decisions and conversations about GRAB-BAG.
